An awareness session on various biotechniques and biotechnology was given to higher secondary school students of near by school in Thodupuzha to popularise science and inculcate scientific temper in school students
ONLINE TRAINING SESSION ON BIOSAFETY AND SOP
Online Training Session on Biosafety and SOP was organized by Department of Botany Biotechnology Newman College, Thodupuzha for the students, faculty members and laboratory staff of Lifesciences/ allied sciences to understand the safety measures that need to be adhered in any laboratory related to lifescience subjects.
STUDYING IN LONDON : THE JOURNEY TO ADMITTANCE , PROS, CONS AND ADVICE
Invited talk and interactive session on Studying in London: The Journey to Admittance, Pros, Cons and Advice was organized by Department of Botany Biotechnology Newman College, Thodupuzha for the Bachelor’s students of Lifesciences/ allied sciences to understand the learning experience and pedagogy in UK and identification of the process of admittance. Mr. Hugo Mathew, Medical student St. Bartholomems hospital & The Royal London hospital, London, UK served as the resource person.
Selected students undergo two weeks internship programme at Immunopharmacology and experimental therapeutics laboratory at Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram and Merit BioLabs Pvt. Ltd. , Kochi
SEMINAR AND EXHIBITION ON MEDICINAL PLANTS AND ITS USES
An extension programme for experiential learning on medicinal plants was organized by Department of Botany Biotechnology & Institution Innovation Council in association with District Ayurveda Hospital, Thodupuzha.
World environmental day 2022 commonerated by Department of Botany & Biotechnology with an invited lecture on ‘Anthropocene: Human invasion or sustenance?’ and a training session on flora identification and documentation.
CAREER ORIENTATION PROGRAMME- “FUTURE PROSPECTS IN BOTANY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY
An orientation talk on Future Prospects in Botany and Biotechnology was delivered by the invited Speaker, Ms. Anita Joy, Asst. Professor (on contract), St Thomas College, Pala.
LEARN THROUGH EXPERIENCE: VISIT TO SCIENCE LABS
Students visited pharmacology, pharmacognsy, Pharmaceutical chemistry and molecular biology labs at Nirmala college of pharmacy. The students also visited the botanical garden, mushroom house and arboretum maintained by Nirmala college.
ONE WEEK HANDS ON WORKSHOP ON MS OFFICE 2013
Department of Botany & Biotechnology organized hands on workshop for first year UG students on basic IT skills. The programme was organized after identifying the deficit areas in soft skills of the newly admitted students due to pandemic and lack of access to computers for many students from economically weaker sectors. Ms. Swathy Venugopal of Department of Commerce (SF) was the resource person.
